Michelle Moyer and Javier Ramirez Jr. were traveling north on the highway when the vehicle they were in was stopped for an equipment violation, according to an affidavit. The document states Moyer was driving a vehicle she reportedly described as a rental but was unable to produce a rental agreement or supporting documents. McLean County sheriff's deputies reportedly detected the odor of marijuana, and Ramirez reportedly admitted to the presence of controlled substances inside a black bag inside the vehicle, according to the affidavit. Officers also found marijuana weighing a total of three-fourths of an ounce and drug paraphernalia, including a glass pipe commonly used to ingest controlled substances, according to law enforcement. The affidavit states Ramirez reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana in the car but told deputies the fentanyl and meth were Moyer's property. Moyer, 40, and Ramirez, 41, are each charged with possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance — fentanyl, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. They are also charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. Those charges are classified as misdemeanors in Moyer's case and carry maximum sentences of nearly a year in jail each. In Ramirez's case, the meth and paraphernalia charges are classified as felonies carrying maximum sentences of five years in prison apiece because they represent a second or greater offense. Both are also charged with possession of marijuana, an infraction carrying a maximum fine of $1,000 but no jail time. A joint trial is scheduled to begin on Jan. 28. reach Brad Nygaard at 701250-8260 or [email protected] 0 Comments Love 0 Funny 0 Wow 0 Sad 0 Angry 0 Be the first to know Get local news delivered to your inbox!
